Are you a Great Connector? 12 Questions to Ask Yourself...

Welcome back!

ARE YOU A GREAT CONNECTOR?

We've been taking a journey together down Prospector Road....  And connecting is merely another way to say Prospecting!

If you haven't checked out these previous posts, take a moment before continuing:

Prospecting Tips from a Pro!

Prospecting Tips from a Pro! ...Part II

If you believe you successfully connect with others, just few questions for you to mull over...

But first...  a REMINDER that you must hone this skill!  Commit to daily bettering your communication skills!

Everything you do is a form of communication.

The book below is a must read and you will come back to it, again and again.  In fact, it's a great idea to review this book annually {Hint:  mark it on your calendar - alarm it!}

So...  are you a Great Connector?  Check out the questions below to see!

ARE YOU A CHARLATAN?

Be genuinely interested in what someone else is doing.  NOT because you only want to sell something!  {Don't have commission breath.}

For instance, if someone wanted to start a blog, ask them some questions...

What made you want to start a blog?  What are you going to accomplish by having a blog? Really WANT to know!

If you're going to be fake - join another industry.

ARE YOU EASILY DISTRACTED?

Really great connectors do not become distracted.  {NO Shiny Object Syndrome!}

In fact, here are:

3 Ways to Minimize Distractions

DO YOU HAVE GOOD POSTURE?

Great connectors practice their communication.  Making sure there is good tone - phone, videos, etc.  Be aware of your tone and facial contact.  What is your body language saying?  Pay attention and improve whenever possible.

ARE YOU ASSERTIVE?

Are you bold enough to let your opinion be known?  Don't be too aggressive but don't be a pushover.

Have good posture and confidence, but don't be too "hard."

If someone has a J-O-B, don't make them feel stupid!  {Appx 80% of network marketers are part-time - they DO have a job.}  Goodbye, Judgy McJudgerson.  You are pushing people away.

Educate and share your opinion suppored by assertiveness and results.  No shaming.

ARE YOU CONNECTING WITHOUT TENSION/STRAIN?

Be prepared.  If you are not prepared, you'll not be a very good connector, and will cause you anxiety and fear - those are automatically transferred subconsciously to your audience!

Always agree.  (Mirror the other person.)

Would you rather be right or rich?

The Power of Agreement means you can connect with anyone.

Don't be addicted to the outcome - this also causes you to be anxious.

ARE YOU DISTRACTING YOUR AUDIENCE?

Your appearance makes a huge difference whether you can connect with someone.  Support your posture by making sure when you are looking appropriate for the interaction.

Good attraction = repelling the wrong people

ARE YOU HONEST?

In network marketing, be careful of your integrity.  If you think the industry is full of liars and cheating, you will never be successful in the industry.  Uphold that integrity.

This is a ripple effect!  If you ALL operate within guidelines of integrity, it becomes a really powerful force.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR SCHTUFF?

Be informed about what you are selling and how to do that properly.  That doesn't mean you need to know every ingredient in your Shaketastic Shake!  It means you know where to find it or be able to lead them to a presentation on the specifics.

ARE YOU COMMUNICATING ON THE LEVEL OF YOUR AUDIENCE?

There are levels of learning - kids' level, geared toward women, etc.  I think of all of the different types of Bibles that are sold.  LITERALLY every niche.  Upon doing a quick search, these are some of the specific types available!

  1. Praise!  A Creative Journaling Bible
  2. The Bible for Beginners
  3. Every Man's Bible
  4. The Story Travelers Bible
  5. Everyday Matters Bible for Women

Can you picture what each group might look like, based on those descriptions?

Gear your communication - language and nuance - toward your audience.

IS YOUR INTENT TO IMPROVE OTHERS' LIVES?

Your questions and actions will flow.  Put away your Commission cologne.

There are many ways to serve, to help someone with a problem they have.  Some of these are outlined in this previous blog post:

How Can You Make Your Life Worth Living?

ARE YOU GETTIN DOWN TO IT?!

Good connectors do things that are DUPLICATABLE.  Don't try to be impressive.  No one cares.  You'll only end up impressing yourself.

Get your business set up on a premise of using systems that work for you.  Many come into this line of work for this thing called FREEDOM, not to shift from one grind to another.  Think big and think long-term.

This is called Leverage!

ARE YOU INTERESTING OR INTERESTED?

Connect with people.  I mean, we keep talking about this.  Don't be interesting...  No one wants to hear you talk about yourself all day long - this sounds selfish, but people want to talk about themselves!

It's just true.  So let them.  Lend an ear.  Be genuinely interested in them, their story, and their ambition.  Then you will be ready to help.  They've laid it all out for you.  Go deep.

Don't sponsor someone for commission - sponsor to help.  But do that to get into their network.  Think in levels.

The commission is icing on the cake!  Do what you do to get what you are doing out to more people on the planet.

All of these really come down to Family + Community.

Goal when leaving ANY interaction with someone... Leave them better.

Be PRESENT while you are connecting with someone.  LISTEN to them.
