What to Do When There is Unrest in the Forest?

We've all heard kids say this...  but adults often "say" this in a less obvious way.  Jealousy when they see someone succeeding at or "getting" something they really want.  Gossiping and talking behind their backs, accusing them to have done some unsavory act to be in the favorable position they're in.

This may just be negative body language - an unspoken resentment that is acted out.  But all of it means the same thing.

First, sometimes bad things do happen to good people.  Since we're all moving through this thing called "Life" we all encounter Loss and Grief, just because that's part of life.

But if you are focused on SOMEONE ELSE and sending these negative thoughts toward them...

You must look inward.

You're reflecting your own insecurities and shortcomings onto someone else.  And THAT'S not fair.  Because you made decisions to get where you are.

Buck up, Buttercup.

Be accountable for you.  Take responsibility for your thoughts and your decisions... or your lack thereof.

This topic comes to mind when hearing Rush's The Trees.  You can check out both the video and lyrics below.

There's a huge conflict between the Oaks and Maples, because the Oaks are taller and soak up all of the sunlight.  The solution ultimatley was that a Law was put in place to cut the trees so they're all the same height -->  made equal.

Obviously, the Maples couldn't just walk over to a sunny field to take advantage of the light.  They can't move.  But YOU can.

As humans...  it's not realistic to imagine everyone is "equal."

We're all different shapes, sizes, and colors (etc) and have all encountered someone that didn't like us for one reason or another - for something out of the realm of our control.  First, who cares if someone doesn't like us because we're different?  Second, stop letting your life be dictated by someone that's not YOU.  Last...

Life doesn't keep score.  It doesn't care if you are jealous of what someone else has.  Don't be focused on that.  Don't compare.  We're all on our journey and must experience different things.  (Sometimes, it takes some of us longer to learn a particular lesson than others!!)

Even if two of us are side-by-side, we all see the world through different perspectives.  And we all have strengths, and then a bunch of other stuff we need to work on.

Much of the time, our "inequalities" or supposed weaknesses end up being our biggest strengths.

Focus on bettering yourself and moving forward to whatever you are wanting!  Set goals to obtain that thing, person, place, position, etc.  There's no reason you can't get it.

Except you.

You're the only reason.  #keepinitreal #quitcrying #grind #writegoals

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade?

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'oppression!'
And the oaks, just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet,
And saw
